MeMorI is at the crossroad of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and programmable soft materials, with a connection to the world of interactive arts. MeMorI's objective is to imagine novel physical ways to interact with devices using the currently emerging family of programmable, shape-morphing materials. The aim is to enrich user experience with physical manipulation through new shape-changing interfaces. The project investigates interfaces that adapt the control of the interface to users (e.g., motor abilities), tasks (e.g., coarse adjustment of a parameter) and environment (e.g., mobile).
MeMorI develops and studies new interaction techniques based on the opportunities offered by materials developed and investigated by PMMH. The research challenge is to investigate the design space specifically opened by these new materials for HCI. The scientific results of MeMorI will be communicated to the general public through videos and an interactive art installation designed by Dominique Peysson.
